Army spouses can now apply for 2023-2024 AER scholarships

2023-2024 Mrs. Patty Shinseki Spouse Scholarship Program

The application for the 2023-2024 Mrs. Patty Shinseki Spouse Scholarship is now available.

The need-based scholarship program was established to assist Army spouses in obtaining their first undergraduate degrees or similar professional certifications. It was named in honor of Patty Shinseki, an Army spouse for more than 50 years, and a strong supporter of military spouse education and other military Family programs.

Spouses may receive assistance for up to four academic years of full-time study or eight academic years of part-time study. Applicants must re-apply each year.

AER awarded $3.5 million in scholarships to more than 940 spouses in 2022.

Applications will be considered based on the window in which spouses apply. AER cannot award funds for a semester or term that has already passed as of the date a spouse submit their application.

  • Applications submitted from June through December 2023 will be considered for scholarships awarded in Fall 2023, Spring 2024 and Summer 2024.
  • Applications submitted January through May 2024 will be considered for scholarships awarded in Spring 2023 and Summer 2024.
  • Applications submitted from June through August 2024 will be considered for scholarships awarded in Summer 2024.

Spouses can continue applying for 2022-2023 scholarships through this summer.
