Assistance anywhere
Active duty or retired Soldiers may request assistance from any military aid society office located within 50 miles of their current locations. If an office is not found within 50 miles, Soldiers can receive AER assistance through the American Red Cross at 1-877-272-7337.
Effective Oct. 17, 2022, all eligible Airmen, Guardians and their Families with a financial need, regardless of location, can apply for AFAS financial assistance through the AFAS Portal at https://portal.afas.org/my-applications/
Army Emergency Relief officers should direct members of the U.S. Air Force and U.S. Space Force to apply online.
Effective Oct. 18, 2023, eligible Soldiers and U.S. Army Families who require financial assistance will no longer be serviced at Air Force, Space Force or Coast Guard installations. They should contact the American Red Cross at 1-877-272-7337 for assistance with case processing.
