Sgt. 1st Class Nadja Bernard is the recipient of the 2025 Maj. Hugh Boyd Casey Memorial Award. Bernard, a noncommissioned officer in the 2nd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, is forward deployed to Germany.

The award was established from a generous donation during the Vietnam War era. AER was directed to use the funds solely for the honor, which recognizes the most outstanding Soldier of the 7th Infantry Regiment. Casey was serving in Korea with the 7th Infantry when he died, and Camp Casey is named for him.

This yearly award aims to acknowledge the expertise, attitude and impact of noncommissioned officers within the regiment, reflecting Casey’s commitment to service and excellence.

Command Sgt. Maj. Eric Caudill, 2nd Bn., 7th Inf. Regt. senior noncommissioned officer, recently presented Bernard with a plaque and $500 AAFES gift card.<
