VIENNA, Va. Navy Federal Credit Union today announced the launch of a multi-year, collective partnership with the Bob Woodruff Foundation, Army Emergency Relief, the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, the Air Force Aid Society and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance. Intended to support each respective group’s execution of its broader, service-minded objectives, the partnerships align with Navy Federal’s long-standing priority of working alongside external groups with a strong history of serving America’s military community.

Navy Federal made the decision to fund this multi-year investment with the fixed-fee it earns from its contract with the Department of Defense to operate overseas Military Banking Facilities, part of the DoD Overseas Military Banking Program.

“Navy Federal is proud to have the opportunity to support these phenomenal partners and further our mission to America’s broader military community,” said President and CEO Dietrich Kuhlmann. “Each of these groups share Navy Federal’s commitment to America’s Veterans, Active Duty servicemembers and their families, and we are honored to be able to support the wonderful work they do on behalf of those who serve and defend our nation.”

Today’s news follows the September announcement of Navy Federal’s multi-year strategic relationship with the USO. This partnership was initiated to leverage the strengths of Navy Federal and the USO to enhance and expand financial education support to America’s military community.

Last fall, the DoD awarded Navy Federal Credit Union a contract to assume operation of the Military Banking Facilities, known as Community Bank, the overseas military bank for U.S. service members and their families. As part of this agreement, Navy Federal now operates 60 MBFs and 270 ATMs already in existence on designated DoD military installations across Europe and the Pacific.

“Our work is rooted in a commitment to supporting servicemembers, veterans and their families,” said Anne Marie Dougherty, CEO of the Bob Woodruff Foundation. “Our partnership with Navy Federal Credit Union and the military relief organizations enables us to extend our impact even further. By working with these organizations, we’re able to reach more servicemembers in need, ensuring critical resources are readily available to those who give so much in service to our nation.”
